Q & A / Re: 108g transducers

I just uploaded this png file using the "Attachments and other options" tab. Those speakers in the Beta are 108G's; although I'm not sure they were designated as such, same drivers.

The nomenclature 108G means 10"-8 ohm-Guitar. I believe they were all AlNiCo, a small round magnet surrounded by a U shaped frame would verify that, if so they are rated at 40 watts. Probably late 70's/early 80's Hartzell era, based on your code I'd say 1982. I think Sunn was actually producing their own drivers then, but they could be CTS.
I had a quad of them in a Sunn Beta Lead combo amp, they sounded OK in the open cabinet.
I'm not much of a guitar player, but there is a faction who are huge Beta Lead fans, and those AlNiCo 10's and 12's were in most of them.

Q & A / Sunn SR-400 Manual PDF ?
« Last post by MikeO))) on May 16, 2022, 06:55:26 pm »
Hello all!

First post but long time amp worshipper. I just bought and restored a Sunn SR-400 mixer. I would love to have a PDF of the manual to kind of guide me on what some of the outputs do like the power amp and the effects out. Just want to double check plus it would be nice to have to add with my others.

DIY / Repair Video Sunn Alpha 112R Reverb knob and Beta Footswitch
« Last post by oldjoe on May 02, 2022, 11:49:57 am »
Hello guys,
no question here, but:

my cousin made a video in which he recorded the repair of some of my stuff.

At first he changed a broken reverb knob on my Sunn Alpha 112R. Herefor he used a knob I took out of a broken Alpha Mixer. He had to modify the knob to fit in which he shows in detail.

At second, he repaired my Beta Footswitch because some dumbass changed the plug and all of the wires inside.

I think my cousin did a good job in repairing and documentation. Although the video is in german he added english subtitles for you fellows.

Have fun!

Q & A / Re: Beta 402/202 Cab Output Jack Question
« Last post by EdBass on April 10, 2022, 10:42:09 am »
I doubt it will be of any concern with your DC5, however a good thing to keep in mind when daisy chaining different cabs is that when the impedance of the cabs are equal each cab will get equal power.
So the two 12's in the 202 is getting the same power as the four 12's 402, pushing the two drivers in the 202 harder than the four drivers in the 402. The cabs combined won't react as a "six twelve".

Not necessarily a bad thing of course, unless you were using a big power, in which case the 2X12 might be stressed beyond it's capability.
