I wonder if anybody is building 2000s' clones (for sale)?
I thought that maybe I can ask Conrad Sundholm...

Currently? No. There are no companies I am aware of that make a production clone of the 2000s. I believe Conrad WILL build you one if you contact him about it, but it probably be pricey. Amazing, but pricey. I'm sure some company would be willing to make one as a custom job though, maybe Verellen or an outfit like that. I've heard rumblings and rumors of someone making a 2000s clone, but not much else.

I think asking Conrad Sundholm is the best idea. Maybe you pay a little more....but you`ll get a fine, custom made amp. Always be aware of this: when buy an old one from the late 60s you`ve got to change a lot of parts till you can be totally shure of it....

I know about old parts, that is why I would prefer "modern" replica. I would also ask for switchable voltage transformer, as I'm from Europe and I hate using step down transformers.

I use the step down transformers on all of the USA Amps (I live in Germany). It is possible to attach the powertransformator of a 2000S from 115V to 230V, the 50Hz is no problem at all. As a lot of these guy here I did repair an 350B. It was really interesting, I had a good time with my dad - as I don`t see him so often - and the amps works great.... but it took a lot of time as you need non stock spare parts (chokes, caps etc.) and a lot of (practical)experience.

If someone was going to make a new 2000S, the biggest problem would be sourcing a transformer set. The transformers on these are huge....as big as a baby's head in the case of the output transformer. The early 2000S's had a Dynaco output transformer that would cleanly amplify down to 10 Hz, which is WAY better than most stuff off the shelt today. I don't even know if Conrad has a source for the transformers for a 2000S. For a 200S they are available in good quality from Triode Electronics, but the 2000S is a different story.
If it was me, I would just buy an old one and get it up to snuff and then it will be good for the next 30 years. They don't make them like they used to.

I'd prefer the old unit, but fully serviced one. Finding good tech in my place isn't simple :(

If you are adventurous, do what Conrad did and buy a Dynaco monobock power amp and noodle up a 2-tube preamp like the model 60! Go to http://www.tubes4hifi.com/home.html and check out the M125 with four KT88's. This amp, like all of their amps, are based upon the original Dynaco designs. It even has a switch so you can toggle between ultralinear and triode operation. There are other manufacturers of Dynaco clones, but this is the only 120W power amp that I'm aware of. Unfortunately, only available in the US and Canada with a 120 volt power transformer.
