Title: Sunn Solarus, 1969, 6550's, looking for schematic.
Post by: janfmiller on December 02, 2018, 04:18:48 pm
Lucky enough to be sold a Solarus head very reasonably.  Needs work.  But it does produce sound!

I've been unable to find a schematic so hoping to find some help here...

Amp chassis is dated inside 8/22/69.   Has 6550 tubes.  tube rectifier.

Reverb tank is missing.   If anyone knows the replacement ID that would be a plus.

Also would like to know how the foot switch works, just switches??  Momentary or latching???

Many thanks...

Schematic is easy enough. The 6550 Solarus amplifier is identical to the Sceptre, Sentura II and 100S. I don't know the information for the reverb tank. The foot switches are defeat switches for the reverb and tremolo. That is, both features will work without the switches. The switches allow the user to turn the feature off remotely. The switches are push-push, not momentary contact. I use a Peavey foot switch. Much less expensive than a genuine Sunn.

The attached schematic is a Sentura II from 1967. Any differences should be minimal.
