Title: Attack Page?
Post by: Greg_M on December 01, 2011, 08:29:07 am
I use Ubuntu Linix so viruses don't bother my system, but this site or maybe the host's server has been reported as having or hosting viruses. So when you come here you get a big red page that says Reported Attack Page. The site owner might want to take some kind of action.

Google won't allow the site to open in Windows, citing malicious virus warnings, and Norton advises of blocked attacks everytime I try to get in with my PCs. I wish I knew how to fix it, but it's way beyond my ability!

I'd contact whoever hosts the forum and see if there is anything at their level.
Maybe they have suggestions.

Another forum I visit has the same problem and started about the same time. It might be at the host server level

I have not been able to access the forum page from my home PC for the past two weeks although I seem to be able to open it via my iPod Touch at home and via my PC at the office.

If you consider that the number of recent posts have dropped off significantly the past couple of weeks I have to believe that I'm not the only one that's having an issue accessing the forums since the site was updated.

Can one of the site admins please investigate what is going on?  Thanks....

On the same computer, same lines, same server, same everything -I went for my daily check on this forum about 2 weeks and got the site down check back later etc. message.  On several occassions, my Norton flashed that it had just blocked a virus as well.  So tonight, I'm thinking that more than just an overhaul was going on and I back into the form a different way to discover it's still here.  A good thing, but how many others out there are like me thinking that it's gone?  After back-dooring the forum, when I go to favorites and hit the usual line, it's working fine now -  WTF???  Go figure!

Seems to be working fine from this laptop as well, same basic story, suddenly it's working again.
I assume that the admins got the bugs worked out!   :-D

Well considering the Sunn section was down for days and now it is fixed, I am pretty sure Tboy has been working on it all along. I bet he was overloaded with pm's and emails about the problem and just tried to fix it as soon as he could.

No warning this morning

(hey I should be a song writer)

The other site's warning is gone too. I bet it's on the same host/server

I was able to get to the forums somehow on Friday night from my desktop PC at home just to end up with some nasty-ass ransome-ware on my system called System Fix.  Its a bogus system optimization program that basically tells you that your system hardware is dying and completely forces you to purchase it to get your system back.  After a bunch of research on-line, a free activation key that's posted on the web and a couple of rounds of scanning my full system with virus killers I've got my system back and I think the System Fix crap is gone.

One of the admins needs to get to the bottom of this and fix the issue or everyone is going to end up with this virus and no one is going to return to the forums.

Just checked and both this forum and the music-electronics-forum are on the same ISP.

I'd say it is at the server level

Hi, Buds,

My PCs haven't been able to access until this morning, but my iMac let me in - once. Last time I tried the Mac, the warning was enough to make me cut and run immediately.

While on my laptop pne evening, maybe two weeks ago when I still couldn't use the sunn page, I followed some google links to the sunn part of the amp-age page. While reading the posts, something hit my machine - HARD. I received messages that my hard drive was defective and I should buy the attacker's program to repair it. Wordage was clearly from another country, and I'm sure they would have had fun with whatever credit card I they expected me give them to buy whatever they were hawking.

Anyway, the invasion rendered my laptop useless. It's an older machine so I was about to trash it, but instead, I completely wiped and reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled everything. That fixed it, and my hard drive obviously never had a problem.

Just got on the sunn page (here) from my primary PC and so far it's all okay. I hope it's really fixed.

Hope no one else was hit as badly as I was.

Warmest...

Hi there,I was unable to access the discussion forum for about 2 weeks,if I recall right,I was able to access everything else though.Every time I tried to open the discussion page I'd get a notice saying "DNS server error, unable to find page"  so being the computer neanderthal that I am,I just kept trying and eventually it started to work again, sorry, that's all I know,Mel.

The site has another attack virus on it.  Looks to be the same one as couple of months ago.

Well, I don't want to jinx anything but it seems like things are back to normal since I experienced no issues logging in and navigating the site from my PC laptop tonight. I didn't have anything to do with getting the site squared away, and I assume that the admin has been fighting with the issues that have been plaguing our forum, so thanks to Tboy!

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I managed to clean out a back door trojan from my machine (compliments of this site) then I just stayed away until now. I did post about the problem on the blog site (which seems to be taken over by garment industry spammers!) because I didn't see any contact of any kind.
At least it's up and running again! Better do full antivirus and spyware scans on your machines  :-)
