2000s cabinet plans
« on: July 15, 2014, 01:40:39 pm »
Hello.
I'm going to build a 2000s cabinet. The problem is I can't contact Mr. Conrad to acquire building plans, no connection for about two months. Could anybody write down for me all needed dimensions? I found here some drawing of the 200s cab, 2000s looks the same I guess:

I'm not happy to ask for it here, but in Europe it's not possible to find any Sunn cabinet and Mr. Conrad is out of reach.

Kind regards,
Juliusz

Or maybe somebody knows if D, E, F, G and H dimensions are the same in 200s and 2000s cabinets?

Here it is!

One JBL K140 is like new, another one doesn't look good and had to have dust cap replaced (I can't reach aluminium one unfortunately), but works well at least. It's birch plywood (as mentioned in Conrad's plans) instead of pine used in original cabs, so it's probably more midrangey than original ones. It's great, has plentiful and natural low-end; to be honest I expected rather boosted, thunderous low-end but it's still nice and very controllable.

Another cab is vintage Ampeg with CTS drivers.

BTW I used Fender/Sunn tolex avaiable to order at Fender distributor stores (it look the same but it's a bit softer than original in my amps) and Fender black/white/silver aged grill cloth, which looks nice but it's more yellowish than 40 yars old nicotine smoked Sceptre.

Hi, Sleds,

I build two 2000S cabs awhile back using Conrad's original drawings ($35 from the man).

You might want to know that he has Sunn Tolex, grill cloth, rubber feet, and corners available for a modest cost.

I think you'll find a thread with my cabinets somewhere in `this site's older files.

Warmest regards,

A minor point......to my knowledge, all Sunn cabinets (even the earliest) were made of fir plywood, not pine as noted in the OP's original post. I have cabs from '66, '67 and '68 and they are all plywood as I recall. If I am mistaken, please correct me. Fender, and others, used edge-jointed solid pine for many years along with plywood and particle board baffles and back panels.

Thanks!

I know this is kind of an old thread, but I am interested in getting the plans for 2000S cabs and also 200S cabs. Can you please let me know the best way to contact Mr Sundholm? I tried emailing him at the contact address c.sundholm@comcast.net listed at conradamps.com, but it got bounced back to me.
