Wanted: Cabinet Jack Cup
« on: June 20, 2015, 01:55:26 pm »
Hi everyone,

Looking to find a original jack cup for a 60's/70's era Sunn cabinet.
Also could use some of the original black/white speaker wire if anyone may have any?

Thanks!!!

If you are unable to locate an original jack cup, consider this repro Fender unit from Mojo....

or this unit from Reliable Hardware (they also have the correct Sunn corners).....

I don't know if your cab had plastic or cloth covered wire, but I would guess you could use either kind; 16 gauge black & white twisted pair. Available from lots of sources.....Mojo, AES, Triode, etc.

No affiliation, just another Sunn nut!

Thanks for the response and info Ryan!

Has anyone tried these "Fender" versions out yet?  I may give these a shot if nothing else come along in the next few weeks.

Also, FYI the one in this link I've tried before and they do not fit.:

The Fender type ferrules won't work on a Sunn cabinet without modification. They only work on a Fender cabinet with a thin panel on the back and then you have to use a special Switchcraft jack that has extra long threads.

Conrad posted some pics of a cabinet he made that had the original type cups. I ask him where he got them and he said he got them from someone that took them off of an old Sunn PA cabinet.

I remember reading that Conrad said that these jack cups were originally door pulls. The kinda thing that a sliding closet door might have.

I'm still looking so if anything might turn up. I can also be reached at: news73@yahoo.com

Thanks!
