cabinet options for coliseum 300

Got myself the coliseum 300 solid state bass amp, and 300w@2ohms I was wondering what the best speaker options are?
I'm looking to get as much bottom end as possible, so any advice will be greatfully received.

I asked the same question about a year ago on here.  There were others, but the two that I recall were the 2-15 cab and 1 or 2 of the MV1-18 cab(s.)  I had the 2-15 cab and found not 1 but 2 of the MV1-18's.  Each are quite capable of shaking your pants leg.  I've found that the MV1-18 is maybe just a tiny bit more deep and that 1 cab is plenty alone.  Adding the second cab (which is not like all other experiences that I've had) makes little difference.  You might try a search under my name for the original thread from a year or so ago for further info.  I also had the head serviced for optimum performance.  It's one of my top 4 favorite heads, along with Ampeg SVT, Acoustic 370 and Kustom 200.

i've had a coliseum 300 bass head that needs servicing. 

i see you recommend a mv 1x18 cab and the 2x15 cab. i googled the mv 1 1x18.

I'm assuming that is a model number for a sunn cab. But i cant any info on a mv 1x18?

can anyone post some links please?

Hey fender_bender.  Go to the home page for this site (Sunn) - go to the right top - click on museum - lots of stuff pops up - go to 118 MH.  MH was the standard Sunn speaker - the MV was the optional Vega speaker.  There may be other info within other categories, but this will get you started.  Hope this helps.

bigobassman, the H designates a horn cabinet, so the 118MH and 118V were not the same cabinet.

Just to illustrate the difference, here is a Coliseum Bass stack with two 118V cabinets; and a late '70s 118BH.

I don't know why by the later '70s they called it a BH instead of the MH.  I always assumed it was because of the Magna speakers but mine has a Magna in it, too, and the catalogs I've seen from that period call it a BH as does the metal plate on the backside.

You guys are probably right.  Looks like I got some of my letters turned around.  Not sure about when and why, but based upon the research that I did over a year ago, including the info on this site(Sunn,) it was my understanding that, at least at one time, the single 18 folded horn cab, like many other manufacturers, offered the standard Magna speaker and the optional Vega speaker, hence the M and V designation.  I don't recall the other sites from whence the info was obtained or I'd give the site.  The info on this site(Sunn) shows the folded horn cab and calls it a 118 MH, and further states that it has the Magna speaker.  In any event - I have the older ones just like in the pic on this site(Sunn) with the silver badge but with the 18 Vega.  I'm sure that this is all clear now.   Just let the Sunn shine through.

Sooo true CLD.  BTW - in looking for info for a newcomers question on the Coliseum 300 head - I discovered a thread that I did a year and half or so ago talking about the head and the cabs available.  Here's the lowdown as established then.  The 2 folded horn cabs were 118MH (Magna speaker) and 118VH (Vega speaker.)  So I did indeed have my letters and numbers confused.  My bad!  Sign of brain degeneration?
