Now here's something you don't see everyday (or care too)

The first band I was in called the Marquis. June 1966. I'm second from the right and would have been 15. A Gibson EB-0 through a Fender "Bassman"

I think I remember what farty is......

Hmmm... I think that "farty" would be an accurate description of that set up as well. But a different kind of "farty" than the cone bouncing; many times the sound of the big old Gibson Humbucker (a.k.a. "Mud"bucker) right up on the neck has been referred to as "muddy".

So... although the image that the following term calls to mind is a little disturbing, probably the most descriptive term for the sound an EBO into a Bassman that is bouncing it's cones makes would be...

Wait for it…

A Muddy Fart.

Not a pleasant mental picture, is it?

My mom made the ruffles for those shirts out of bed sheets. We were inspired by Paul Revere and The Raiders.  :-D

Exceptionally Groovy threads, Greg. Right up there in "Bitchin' Factor" with Jeff's bellbottoms!

That is great! I am 60 miles north of Seattle, played a Gibson MMB bass with a thumbpick through a Bassman with 12's but certainly wouldn't wear ruffles until 68'.

I played at the Castle in 74, filling in for someone, and you can imagine the look on their faces when I rolled in with my 415M.

I'd offer to send more photos but I wouldn't be able to take any showing the back of the faceplate or a side view ...
