Sunn solid state repair in NYC...?

anybody had their SS Sunn fixed here in New York City?  reasonable rates?  any tips or pointers would be awesome...

I had an Acoustic head fixed by a guy with a shop on the west side about 6 years ago. I can find out if he's still around and get his address. I imagine he can fix your amp as well.

Frank-  The place is on W.28 between 6th and 7th Ave. called Expert Audio Repairs & Service-(212) 868-4357 and they answer the phone EARS, so don't think you dialed a wrong #. Unfortunately they're NOT cheap, but they will fix your amp right. The guy I e-mailed doesn't work there anymore, but said maybe he could fix it for you at his house if you could take a trip out to Long Island. Hope this helps, let me know.

hey...thanks for the tip.  I made contact with this repair guy in the bronx.  he seems really cool.  if it dosen't work out I'll follow up your lead.  so here's his email reply:

"...Hi Frank,
I have experience with older Solid State amps like Acoustic, Kustom, &
Sunn.
I do not charge a fee to inspect the amp & give an estimate.
My repair fees are $70 per hour + parts.
For most repairs, I charge just the one hour labor fee even if I spend
more
than an hour on it.
Occasionally in the case of an amp that is totally screwed up with
burnt PC
boards, I charge for 2 hours.

just got my amp back from TLC amplification.  Tommy is amazing:  he fabricated some custom strut-things to reattached a loose board to the chasis, resoldered/"jumped" a number of shitty connections, cleaned the whole thing up in less than a week...and still charged me $10 LESS than the quoted price for a basic tune up!  $60 for amp repair?  Awesome!
