Title: Fixing Up The 200S Amp
Post by: Greg_M on February 14, 2011, 03:11:59 pm: I've been working on the 200S amp I got off ebay and thought I'd post a couple of pictures

The feet were broke off the output xfmr so I had to make some new ones. I couldn't find anyone that had a blown xfmr to swipe the feet off.
I'm betting these won't break

The power xfmr was toast so I bought a new one of those.
New caps, tube sockets, pots, bias pot, big cap, power cord, painted the chassis. Still looking for some decent knobs.
Put the VOM on the output xfmr and it looks good, but we'll see.

I wish it would warm up so I could go work in the garage again and finish the speaker enclosure

It was pretty crusty when I got it.

Amp looks great and I know its been done for awhile so I hope you are enjoying it. Could you please tell me what kind of paint you used on the chassis and did you paint the transformer? Did you make the transformer feet, I know I'm not the only one that could use a few. Do you have a parts list you could share? I'm going to be fixing up my 1967 200S soon. Any luck on finding pointer knobs yet?

Impressive. Your chassis looks really clean, and the faceplate is almost beyond believable.

Did the faceplate actually come to you in that condition, or do you have some kind of resto process for killing the scratches and dents, and refinishing the silkscreen graphics over the aluminum?

The weather yesterday was GREAT for working on it here, 60, pouring rain, high humidity and an earthquake.

Post by: jaywalker on July 18, 2011, 09:09:59 pm: Very nice resto. It appears to be a hammertone silver/gray (or grey if you prefer) on the chassis. I really dig the hammertone colors...blue and gray being common, green somewhat rare. It was popular in the 50's and early 60's on machinery and safe doors along with wrinkle tone paints that hid imperfections but are harder to keep clean..
