Title: European Sunn owners?
Post by: parker_knoll on November 11, 2012, 02:56:40 am
Sunns are rare birds in Europe. I don't think i've ever seen a used one in a store here in the UK, and very occasionally on ebay.

Any European Sunn owners out there? Where are you and what do you have?

+1 that Sunn amps are pretty rare finding in Europe..
So Ebay or even better this forum is the best way to find some good equipment.
I am a proud owner of a Sunn Sorado, Model T (first gen) both bought from US. I have also a Sunn Coliseum Bass ("silver face") a 412L bought as a set from UK and last but not least a Sceptre 4x12" found here in Greece in an old guys basement!!

+1, I live in Germany. Sometimes a concert bass or a coliseum pops up, but not very often...
I found some stuff on ebay (mainly USA), ebay "keinanzeigen" and on facebook (look sunn amps comm.). I got a 2000S, a 350B (= 2000s), two Sorados (one with GZ 34, the other solid sate), a coliseum 880 and a concert bass. I use two 4*10" Sunn/Fender (H 410).

I totally like the sound, the dynamic and the "feeling" of the tube Sunns, I use the 880 just for redocring (great fuzzy sound). I got an old Ampeg V4B from 1978- I played it last night again...nice amp but nothing feels like a Sunn!

Rock on,

Oliver

This reminds me of something that happened a few years ago in the height of my eBaying... I had gotten bored, or tired of my SUNN Concert Bass with 1x18 Cerwin Vega speaker cab and put it on eBay (definitely not wanting to have to ship that cab, but I listed it anyway). A bunch of people wanted just the head and I said no thx, but then a guy bought the whole thing! And then I notice he's from Deutschland, hahahaha!!!

So I email him (and I'd been kind enough to work out a rough shipping estimate;-{))) and tell him " did you realize shipping would be around $1500?

And so we both agreed to cancel the transaction, and I never relisted the amp.

You know what they say "The lord works in mysterious way", except in this case it was the SUNN god.

Later on down the road, I traded it off on Craigslist for a really nice early Musicmaster bass that was a little easier to eBay ;-{)

Here's was that SUNN amp, it would be funny if someone on this forum was the guy who popped the BIN on it.

nice Model T. I've got an Enforcer also running through an Orange cab. Need to make a footswitch for it but everything's tickety boo otherwise. Based in London, UK.

Check the seller's feedback and then stay away!
