Title: Solid State Bias Question
Post by: shibbz on December 08, 2012, 12:23:32 pm
Hi, while this isn't about a Sunn, I figure it probably applies to their solid state amps as well.
I just recapped the power section of a Peavey Musician, my first recapping job ever!
It works fine and is low in noise again, but I can't help but wonder if the bias needs adjusting after the recap.
If I remember correctly you definitely re-bias tube amps after a recap.
I no nothing about reading and adjusting solid state bias.
Any input?

Usually you measure the voltage across one of the emitter resistors for the output transisitors, and adjust for a value specified by the manufacturer of the amp. You need to find the factory schematic for the amp. If you can't find one online, call the Peavey factory, they'll send you one.
