Sunn still being made by Fender????
« on: July 11, 2004, 07:53:53 am »
I understand Fender bought out Sunn at one point of time.  I've been searching around the fender site and all I see is if I type in www.sunn.com, I get the Fender homepage.   HOWEVER, on searching Google I found http://www.fender.com.au/sunnamps/, but might be just old cache.

Any info?  NAMM is happening here in Nashville in a couple of weeks, wonder who (if anyone) would carry them in their booths (Fender?)

Thanks for your help :)

Yeah I've noticed the same - been searching all day and I keep getting the Fender link with no actual Sunn products in sight!

That sucks!
My ears are bleeding!

Fender aren't still making them. But what sucks even more is that now Fender owns the name no one can really afford to buy it off them so it's unlikely we'll ever see any proper reissues which are true to the original specs.

For the vintage Sunn stuff you will have to search ebay and your local guitar store's used inventory as they show up once in a while.  I nabbed a 200s head and 215 cab (late 60's) with the D140 JBL's in mint condition for $400 total (timing is everything).  BUT - Fender is sellinging the BASSMAN 300 bass head- this is the modern SUNN 300T with a Fender label slapped on it (probably the left over sunn units after they discontinued the sunn brand a couple years ago).  I own the SUNN 300T as well and it kicks butt - other band bass players always ask if they can use it when we share gigs.  There is currently a used SUNN 300T on ebay too.

This really blows. Now that I can afford to get the
equipment I always wanted, I can't find'em anywhere.
Thanks Fender, what happened? If you can't beat'em- buy'em.
I'm looking for a Model-T Stack- NAME YOUR PRICE! Call me
803-327-5025.

There is a Model T on ebay right now as well as a 2x15 cab (no speakers)  And luckily 2 15's on ebay right now...all seperate people but that would be a killer rig.
