Weirdest gigs with your Sunn rigs?
« on: September 29, 2002, 03:00:00 am »
Recently, I was lucky enough to play a few gigs with my brother's band http://www.thecourtesyclerks.com/" TARGET="_blank">The Courtesy Clerks while their regular bass player was unavailable.  We played a super-short set at a motocross rally in Philomath, OR this month and it was my weirdest gig so far.  We had dirt bikes jumping over the stage before the show!!  See the pic of a biker jumping right over my bro's drum kit.  When we were loading up, we had to clean the dirt clods off of all our gear.  It was an adventure.  I've played for drunk dancin' people before but not a crowd of dirt-bikers.  Anybody got any similar stories??

Now for the pic.  Please excuse the poor quality:

That's a '73 Model T and a '76 215B, BTW!

Geoff,

Things have been so dead (like Sunn) around here - thanks for posting the pictures.

Geoff,

Wow, I never expected to see the Courtesy Clerks on this website!  What a small world wide web it is.  I'm friends with Rob and Mike B and Mark.  Also, the drummer in my Eugene-Portland band Slipping Glimpser (for which I use a old 190L sunn) was the origional drummer for the Clerks back in Tigard (when they were rivals with Rob's band I hear)

Too bad I missed the dirt bike/music show.  That sounds pretty entertaining.

Just a quick note that my bro's band The Courtesy Clerks got a brief mention in the Feb 20. 2003 Rolling Stone on page 46 as part of the Top Ten "Campus Scenes That Rock" story.   :D  "cocksure, girl-stealin' party-rock" was their blurb!  Unfortunately, no Sunns in their current gear lineup :(
