DMN, message me if you'd like to sell one of your amps (1200, 2000, 1000, 200) :-)

I looked into that as well, some time ago. The conclusion I came to was that the tone stacks used were essentially flat (as flat as they can be, that is) when all tone controls were at zero.

I have not looked into the Contour control.

Q & A / Sunn Tone Stack
« Last post by D.M.N. on June 09, 2021, 10:43:19 am »
Out of curiosity, as I was messing about with the Duncan Tone Stack Calculator recently, does anyone know exactly what the Tone stack on the 60s Sunn amps, specifically the 2000s or 200s, was? I've read a variety of differing answers, namely modified FMV, or flat at 0, but no solid answer. And my understanding is the Contour doesn't quite work as a traditional mid control, but more of a sweep of what mid frequencies are accentuated. Any more concrete information would be appreciated, or if you have a model for the TSC and values that'd be fantastic.

Q & A / Re: Sunn Model T 2nd Gen. Mod questions

Yep that's the blog. I had all of the mods done in stages. My 2g model t now sounds awesome with my heavy gain pedals. I can't for the life of me figure out why it didn't get along with gain pedals in stock form. Lots of people get great pedal tones with their stock model t's but I couldn't. Weird...the only reason that I can think of is that I found my amp in a wet murky basement...anyone out there think that this could have aided in the degradation of parts in the amp, making the tone suffer?

For some time I've been meaning to grab a copy of Joe's old site and make it available here. Now it's done:

Okay, I'm back.

It was fun, reviewing what he did to his 2G Model T.

I am primarily a bass player, so my needs were different than his. I did the master volume mod (page 5) and the mid boost mod (page 7). Those sufficed to make my Model T a killer bass amp. Which reminds me that I need to find out why my T is popping its circuit breaker. One of these days...

The actual site disappeared from the web long ago, but here's what's left of it on the Internet Archive:
