Title: Model T Build
Post by: hijdra on July 07, 2010, 12:23:26 pm
Outside of Verellen, has anyone successfully cloned a Model T? (first gen).
From my understanding the main problem is a lack of iron. Followed by incomplete schematics.

Has anyone found transformers that work?

What's missing from the schematics?

My mistake, I had read somewhere that they were.

Anyways, for transformers, Mercury Magnetics is now selling these http://www.mercurymagnetics.com/pages/catalog/manufacturers/MM_sunn.htm (http://www.mercurymagnetics.com/pages/catalog/manufacturers/MM_sunn.htm)
but they're pretty pricey, has anyone had any luck with the hammond 1650T?

The 1650T works fine as an OT for Bass amp service. I never really tried it for guitar. You have to wire it up for just 4 and 8 ohm outputs. The Model T takes the feedback from the 16 ohm tap which is not available when the output windings are set to 8/4. Hammond has expanded their line in recent years so there may be another option.
