1968 Sunn 200S amp/cab for sale
« on: October 18, 2009, 11:57:27 am »
I'm the original owner of this Sunn 200S, which I bought at Manny's early in 1968. It might have been leftover stock from 1967, though, since the Sunn nameplate doesn't have the trademark logo.

The cabinet still has the two original D140s in it. At the volume I used to play it's a miracle they never got blown, but the cab (which is 16 ohms) still works perfectly at any volume. As for looks, the vinyl skin is worn away in places, because the bands I was in then toured heavily. We were all female and perhaps often pushed, more than lifted, the cab into our vans. So it doesn't look mint, just plays mint.

The amp top hasn't worked since I moved from NY to South Florida. It goes on, and you can see the KT 88s light up. Just no sound, through the 200S cab or any other speaker I've tried. The Sam Ash repair guy I once took it to said the condenser needed replacement, but he couldn't get the old part. I suspect the problem might instead be that papery thing that looks vulnerable to the elements; I didn't try playing the amp for 3 years after moving here, and bet the hideous humidity here did something evil during that time. The amp top worked great in NY. Anyway, it does have all its original parts, including knobs.

Anyone interested in this vintage veteran, which has blown out eardrums on stages from the Fillmore (East AND West) to Nassau Colosseum?

Sorry for the delay, guys. I don't have a photo of the 200s now-- just found my camera, which I haven't used in three years and forgot how it works; never installed the software to get the image into my computer, and the instructions look like a whole weekend project (for me); blah blah blah. I meant to have a more technically non-challenged friend come take a photo, but got swamped with work. I'll try to get a photo up soon.
