Title: red knob model t pulling tubes question
Post by: tacklebox455 on January 07, 2012, 10:17:31 pm
i'm not sure sure if i can do this but i would like to know if i can pull 2 of the tubes from my T to reduce the wattage? if so which ones would i pull 2 from the middle or 2 from the outside? i have done this with other amps , if anyone else has done this with there T let me know if this helped reduce the wattage any(volume)

The tubes are paired side to side so you can remove the front two, the back two, the center two, or the outside two. Adjust your output impedance one tap lower than the speaker load ie use the 4 ohm tap for an 8 ohm cabinet.

btw i tried it this morning was hoping to drop the volume a little more than what it did but it worked out ok, guess its time i got a attenuator .

I've done this. It reduces the output power by half, but that's only 3 dB. It's not very noticeable.
