Help please... 6x10S replacement speakers
« on: March 10, 2009, 07:25:07 pm »
I recently got a 6x10S cab only to find out, after ohm testing, that 3 of the speakers were blown.  Honestly, I'd be more upset if the cab hadn't been free, but since I bought a Sunn head with it, the seller threw it in and that was cool with me.

Anyways, I was wondering if:
1. someone has some 10" lying around that they'd be willing to part with
2. anyone knows where I can find some replacements (I've been checking craigslist and ebay)
3. what would sound good in this cab besides the originals.

Any help would be great and thanks for reading!

Mornin' Mate,

I'm about to replace the speakers in my 610s so the impedance matches my rig a bit better, and I really don't have a use for the old speakers. As far as I can tell, two of the speakers are the originals. The other four are various replacements that have been installed over the years.

All of them function, though to my ears, some sound better than others. If you're interested, you can have all 6 for $50 plus shipping costs.

Either way, good luck with the project. They're great cabs.

Hello and thanks for the reply!

I would definatly be interested in buying these from you.  Any idea when you're going to be replacing them?  It'd probably take me about a week to get the money(pay checks come every 2 weeks for me).  Where are you located?  Also, if it's not too much trouble, what kind of speakers are the other various brands?

Let me know when you get the chance and again thanks for your help!

I'll be doing the replacement soon, so it wouldn't be a problem to unload the speakers now. Give me a day or two to unload the cab, and I'll let you know exactly what speakers are in there. Some are obviously the originals, but I'm admittedly clueless about the others.

I'm in lovely Baltimore, and, like you, I get paid bi-weekly, so I feel your pain. I'm in no rush, so if you're interested, don't worry if it takes you a week or two to get the cash.

If I can wrangle my wife's digital camera away from her, I'll try to get pics for you. I'll be in touch.

Hey never got back to me about it and he hasn't signed on since like April 3rd or something like that.

How many do you need?

Sorry, just ended up finding a guy on ebay selling some originals.  I got just 3 (out of his 6) and so I got my cab working with no speakers to spare.
