Q & A / Re: Looking for info

First of all, your pictures are too big for me to view without downloading them to my computer and using Windows picture viewer to scale them down to my screen size.

The number on the back of that speaker, 81 0145 is the Sunn part number for a 15 inch woofer.

Check this thread:

My guess is that what you have is called "Coliseum Monitor". Not much in the way of pictures in any catalog I have, but the dimensions are supposed to be 21"x25"x29".
I found two different references to a Coliseum Monitor:

1971 "Feel the Sound of the 70's" Sound System catalog
Coliseum Monitor:  One 12" Sunn PA transducer, One high frequency horn with Vega Driver.
Two cabinets lock together face to face for transport, 18" high, 20" wide, 17.5" deep, 50 lbs.

1979 catalog
Coliseum Monitor  100W    8 Ohm
1-15"                       81-0145
1-50W Driver/Horn  81-0294
1-Tweeter                81-5150
Dimensions HWD 21"x25"x29"   51lbs

Not sure about the 81-1300 on the back of the horn driver. Might be a later replacement for the 81-0294 or it could be a different Monitor entirely.

I finally pulled the back off of the cabinet... It looks to be a 12 inch speaker, looks like a 1974 date of manufacture by Eminence, and the horn is possibly heppner🤷🏼‍♂️... I've got pics also... Oh, the speaker also had a stamp inside that looks like 157 1 or 158 1

Could you email me a copy of the scematic for that footswitch? My bass player(who plays guitar in another band) needs a footswitch for his Sunn Stagemaster(which I traded him for a Sunn Concert Bass head and 2X15s cabinet). I think I got a pretty good deal out of it. What do you think? L8r, Kevin

hello Kevin,
did you finally get your hands on a schematic for that footswitch?
Q & A / Re: ENFORCER/predator A/B foot Switch?

so is the footswitch for the Enforcer going to work for the Stagemaster as well?
I am not an eletronics expert but I want to diy a footswitch for a friend's combo Stagemaster and give it to him as an xmas present.

I seem to find online the instructions for building an Enforcer footswitch but not for Stagemaster.

Any help/advice would be greately appreciated.

54681 is the serial number. Not much info there. Two pieces of info that would help are the overall size in inches and the speaker complement, 1x10, 1x12 + tweeter etc. then look through the Sunn Catalog thread above to see if you can find something that matches up.

I picked up a bunch of speakers at an auction, and I'm trying to find info on a pair of Sunn monitors that were included... Any help would be appreciated!
Sunn Monitors, finished wood cabinets, model number appears to be 54681... I'll try to attach a pic also

I agree with the filter cap replacement, however, I have a '68 200S I got around 2000-2001, all there - all factory original but in unknow condition. I slowly brought it back up on a variac and it played fine. Still had the original Mallory can cap filter. I started using it with a JBL K140 loaded I40 cab for small venue gigs, and then when I got in a heavy gigging band in about 2014 It became my #1, because this band had pro FOH sound, and I could mic it into the mains and monitors and not worry about having enough firepower for any venue.

So, on the original 50-year-old filter caps I gigged that 200S for 6 yrs., not a hiccup ever. Gigging once or twice a month in the Fall and Winter, with a heavy (for an old man like myself) gig schedule of 2-3 gigs a week in Spring and Summer. This band pulled most of its annual revenue from large outdoor festivals/seasonal open bars. In early 2020 I had the filter caps replaced because I didn't want to tempt fate any longer with the band's heaviest Spring bookings yet coming up; and then... COVID.
The can cap still tested within spec after it was pulled, the amp was a tad louder and cleaner after the replacement.
True story, but if I had more common sense, I would have replaced them before leaning on that old amp as a #1...

Great story Ed!

My very early 2000S still has the original filter caps in it, and it works, though I don't gig with it. I plan to put Solen caps in it when I get the time, but I've been planning that since I got the thing for free in the late 90's. The advantage of the Solens is that I won't have to open the amp up again, and the 2000S has plenty of room for the huge size of those caps. The fact it is a bass amp and good clean power is a desired goal also benefits the use of the Solens. One of these days I'll get to it.
