Best known for his brief stint in Blue Cheer in '69, this interview details his late 60's search for "nuclear guitar sound" and finding it with 1600 watts-worth of SUNN amps--great stuff!  Check this picture below from the back of his 'Population II' album in '70--talk about a wall of sound...

Randy Holden is GREAT!!! I really love his stint with Blue Cheer and I also have his Early Works cd on Capt. Trip. Does he use SUNN?

I'm just getting into this guy, but the Population II stuff was ahead of its time. I think the only time he used Sunn was in that project because he used Marshalls with Blue Cheer and he uses a plethora of new and old stuff now.

For those interested, I think Population II is going to see an OFFICIAL vinyl release in the not-too-distant future. It will also feature the punishing mix the original was supposed to have.
