One 4 Ohm cabinet but two 8 Ohm Jacks on old 1200s
« on: September 10, 2001, 09:36:00 am »
Can I get anyone to comment on my old 1200S (the 4x6550 version)

There are two 8 ohm speaker jacks in the back and as far as I can figure, Jack one is 8 ohms and Jack 2 is for a second 8 Ohm cabinet and there is a switching jack that connects the 2 in parallel to the 4 ohm lead of the out put transformer.  Well I only have one 4 ohm cabinet, so my questions is can I put a dummy plug into Jack one and then my single 4 ohm cab into jack 2??  I really don't went to rewire the jacks.  Thanks!
I enjoy old Sunn stuff, tube and solid state, I have a Concert Bass, Concert slave, 1200s (4X6550, dual rectifier) Concert PA, Studio PA, and an old Acoustic 360 2X15 cab but with Sunn Speakers)

Rock On!!

Your right about the switching jack connecting to the 4 ohm tap. To use a 4 ohm cab just plug into the second jack (marked external speaker) and your set. No dummy plug is needed in jack one.
