Title: Concert Lead ohmage
Post by: shibbz on January 02, 2011, 08:53:12 am
I remember thinking the redfaced concert leads could handle 2 ohms, but I read on this forum and others that it was unlikely that concert leads could safely handle it. Was I reading about the silverfave one? This catalog page says the redface can handle 2, I was just curious if the minimum load was different between the 2 models.

No, the silver face Concert series definitely cannot handle anything below 4 ohms.

It's called marketing - the red face concerts may have come with a larger power transformer  :? but the power amplifier design didn't change much compared to the black face models.

Check out the damage on this red face model - damage from driving a 2 ohm load?

Ew, yeah I was browsing that ad when it was still available. What section of the amp is that? pre-amp? power section? I'm no good with schematics?
