Any forum members wishing to buy Replica's of Sunn Cabinets PM me through the Forum. I can sell them any way you desire, completely finished, without speakers to save money on shipping, or just the bare wood box and you can finish them yourself to save some money. I own and operate a commercial Cabinet Shop. I have just recently been awarded a contract to build cabinets/amp head boxes for a company on the E. Coast. I am only interested in doing this for Forum Members so all can have a chance to get a cabinet as close as possible to a real Sunn cab.
Contact me if interested and I can give you additional info and answer any questions you may have.
Thanks
Bill

I've recently had Bill make me a copy of a Mesa Boogie 4x12 with some slight changes and I received it today. It looks fantastic and the build quality is impeccible. Bill's communication throughout the project was top notch too. If anyone wanted any custom cabinets made, then I'd highly suggest to give Bill a try.

What?

sorry i was drunk.
but in my nefarious mind what would stop someone from getting one of those cabs-slappin an old Sunn logo on there and sell it for a lot of money. "i have a real old Sunn Speaker Cabinet that is in impeccable shape-never taken out of the house and its yours for $2000.!"

I would think common decency would stop them... I hope.

I don't think he's slapping Sunn logos on anything. I just think he's copying the designs of the cabinets (and their aesthetics) which is totally legal (and awesome). I have vintage 70's cabs and every now and then I really wish they had some modern features... like recessed handles and better casters. Someday maybe I'll sell 'em off and get copies with the same design. It's a nice option.

I see Conrad has made at least one cabinet for someone, there was a 200S bottom on one of the posts....are they real or replicas? Does the fact that he started the company allow him to make new cabinets and label them as Sunn? Does it make a difference if you bought a new cabinet that was faithful to the old design? Buyer beware. If it looks like it was just made....maybe it was. Yet in 4 years, I have not been able to find a 200S bottom in my area. I settled for a 215. (IMHO, better than the 200S) Would I care if I found a knockoff if it was the same? Probably not. But then, I would not buy something that was in perfect condition...unless it fell into my lap and the price was low. I much prefer to buy the ones that need some TLC. It give me a sense of accomplishment...as well as saving a piece of history that might have ended up in the trash heap.
With the prices being paid these days for musical equipment and instrument, if you think that there are not counterfeits out there...I have some land in.....

Wood is wood. I wouldn't hesitate to be "slappin an old Sunn logo on there", loading her up with JBL's and blasting away!

There is absolutly nothing wrong with cloning a cab design, just as long as it isn't passed off as an original.
I'm in the process of building two of the old 66-67 Sentura II, 2 x 15 cabs which were 36 x 24 x 11.5. They were the ones with the 15's off set kattycorner from the center line of the cab. I had a 67 Sentura II with two of the originals which I had to sell many years ago. I've just purchased a 67 Seuntura II head and am building the cabs to go with it. I'm making improvements such as using 13 ply birch plywood with rabbet & dado joints, full length cleats at the corners, and I have 4 JBL K130's to put in them - 2 per cab. I got the nickle plated corners, and the handles - which look as close to the original as I've seen, and the rubber feet for the side from Parts Express. ( Parts-Express.com). Only problem is that no one makes the original Silver/black grill cloth that was used on the 67 models, so I may have to do it in the Fender Style cloth which is still available.
