Title: Concert Lead
Post by: soundresearch on April 26, 2009, 03:31:03 pm
Would it be ok to use the 4 ohm beta lead with a 16 ohm cab?

Also I have a concert lead that I need a power trans for, any leads to where I could find one?

Thanks

I'm going to err on the side of 'no'. :)

What kind of cabinet?  It'd entirely possible that you could re-wire the speakers for 4ohms, which would make you, your concert lead, and your cabinet, all very, very happy.

Its an Orange 4x12,I also have a beta 4 ohm 4x12. I wish I could use these together with the lead but I know that would not be good. I would need 2 8 ohm cabs to make a four ohm load, at least I think Im right. It would be cool to rewire the Orange cab. for 4 ohms though, would that be okay?  thanks

A solid state amp into any impedance higher than its minimum will be fine. You just won't get as much power. Don't lwt that worry you, though. I expect that it will still be plenty loud for most applications.

PT for a Concert series amp ouch! You might try Mercury Magnetics but it will cost you.
