Power/Slave amps with 2 ohms?
« on: November 23, 2014, 04:39:46 pm »
Recently got my beta lead back and booming from a local repair shop. Cost a little more than I thought but well worth getting it back. I've been considering investing into a coliseum slave but was wondering if there is a power amp out there that is 2 ohm? Basically, how can I get my beta lead to power 2 1960b cabs / 2 ampeg 810s? Both setups should result in a 2 ohm load from what I understand.

Guitar->Beta Lead input->Master Accessory out->______->2 ohm speaker load  ???

Thanks guys!
Sunn is the one.

Are you looking specifically for a Sunn power amp? If not, pretty much any pro caliber amp is stable at 2 ohms.
Crown Macro Techs are old school lead sleds but are pretty reasonable because of the big weight.
A great option would be if you can find a Stewart World 2.1; 900 watts X 2 @ 2 ohms, dual monaural, the only thing the two sides share is the power cord and a central fan, separate power supplies and power switches.
Best of all the are US built professional caliber SMPS amps, only weigh 17 lbs., and can be had for around $500 IF you run across one. They show up on eBay sporadically.
