Beta Lead SS Questions

Hey y'all! As of yesterday, I am the new owner of a Sunn Beta Lead SS Amp! This thing is great! The amp itself is in near mint condition, I was so surprised!

So, my questions are:

1. What's the difference between the two channels? Are they identical? If they are identical, is this so you can run them together with different EQs, distortion levels, or EFX?

2. Is the footswitch essential for operating any features on the amp? Like reverb? Do you need the footswitch for reverb to be effective? I ask because, the reverb is non existent on this amp... So, if the footswitch is NOT needed to access the reverb, then I will need to get the reverb tank checked out.

3. If the reverb is not controlled by the footswitch, is the footswitch solely needed to be able to switch back and forth between Channel A, Channel B or both?

The two channels are identical. If you plug into the Both input, the footswitch will allow you to select either channel individually or both. The Reverb button on the footswitch is essentially a mute button for the Reverb. If the footswitch is not connected, the Reverb should be acctive.

Do you know why there are different footswitches for the Beta Lead? I've seen 3 so far... 2 different 2-button versions and a 3-button version... Will any of them work? They seem to be essential the same footswitch, with the exception of the 3-button version having the reverb button.

The two button version is for the Beta Bass. That amp doesn't have reverb. You can use either footswitch with either amp, but the two button can not turn the reverb off on the Beta Lead. You can also find non-Sunn made replacement footswitches. Some of those do not have a compatible connector requiring you to replace the connector on the amp. There is a thread on this forum showing how you can build your own footswitch and info on where to find the correct (Amp brand) connector.
