sunn questions
« on: September 22, 2015, 10:20:25 pm »
There are a couple of Sunn amps for sale on Reverb.com that seem "not quite right" and I wanted to enlist the expertise here on the Sunn Forum.

First, an early (1968 or so) Solarus (incorrectly spelled Solaris) that has the "original" orange Utah speakers. I've never seen a Sunn with orange Utahs, have any of you?

Next, the same seller has an A212 combo in "doubly" rare cream tolex. More like one-of-a-kind as I've never seen any Sunn amp  in cream tolex, have you guys?

Lastly, another seller has a Sunn badge for sale that clearly appears to be a reproduction. The typeface is irregular and just doesn't look right. He says old, but not original. Still, he wants $59!

Buyers beware!

Rare indeed... As far as I know orange Utah's were never OEM, same for cream tolex. I would suspect that both were owner modifications after the fact.
Of course we all know that anomalies and custom ordered Sunns were a part of the Sundholm era gear, however I don't think that would be the case with the much later A212.
