415 bass cabinet
« on: February 18, 2000, 11:59:00 pm »
I ran across a sunn bass cabinet in a pawn shop tonight. It was in great condition, and had (what I remember) the marking 415 on the back.  Is this a four 15" cabinet?  The speakers must have been folded towards each other behind the grill cloth cause it wasn't much bigger than a 200s cabinet.  What was the amp head that drove this thing? They wanted $199 for it. Is that and 0K deal?

Hi Sam: Yes! it's a 4/15 cab called a Magna.
I use one loaded with 4 15" JBL K140's along with
a JBL loaded 200S powered by a model T for a bass
rig. The Magna has more depth than a pair of 200S
cabs. Even with the stock speakers they sound
great. I paid 150.00 for mine in mint shape minus
the JBL's and I'd pay 200.00 for another one. The
speakers are mounted at 45 degrees to make them
fit.

:If they still have that heavy beast grab it if it works and still sounds good .Belive it or not my buddy uses it for a heavy guitar sound and it is very efficient and loud.he uses a 65 watt peavey solid state combo amp.
It really looks funny sitting on top of the monster. I plugged in a four hundred watt SWR bass amp into it and now I want it.

I used to own a 412 "magna" cabinet with a 215RH reflex cabinet using a 300 watt Coliseum head. It was so loud that after you got past about 2 on the master volume you couldn't tell any difference in the volume unless you were several miles away. Used to make my pants flap in the wind. If you can buy it, do so. I regret selling mine.

Mis-typed that last entry. It was 4 15" speakers mounted at a 45 degree angle to each other. Awesome for bass or guitar.

I own two of them, one with the original Magma drivers and one that is empty. I paid $300 for the full cab and have since had all drivers reconed. It's heavy in more ways than one.
