Newbie question regarding P.A. System
« on: April 08, 2003, 10:01:08 am »
Hello all.
My friend recenty obtained a SR-8200.  Now me him and our one other buddy are just getting  started playing with eachother,  Now my question is what can I do with the SR8200, when it is just us three playing we have drums, and 2 gutiars...basically I am looking to use the sr8200 to run an acoustic/electric guitar and a mic.

What else do I need with to get going..speakers?  Is that it.

I have no idea how to use a mixer/amp.  ( Right now we are currently using a marshall and fender guitar amps ) but the acoustic sounds kinda crappy when using them ( I also have an electric ).  So should we keep those amps or can we somehow run both guitars and a mic through the sr8200?  Will it be loud enough to get over the drums?  Any other equipment needed?  How many speakers do we hook up to the sr8200, any recommendations.

Sorry if this post is rather choppy, I am clueless on this stuff and i don't know where to start.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Hello:
I would start by downloading the opguide and service manual for the SR 8200. Available on this site.

If it's too loud, you're too old.

Hello, I also have one of those mixers and I need to know what kind of speaker cable I should get. I want to make cable and I suppose it would depend on what speakers I have. I have two Sunn cab's but they are unmarked. It doesn't have a model number anywhere on it. In each cab there are 4 10" speakers all in a row so it is a very tall cab. If any one can give me more info I would love it.
