my old man bought these Mahogany boxed Hi-Fi speakers in the mid 60's. They got replaced and handed down to me in the late 80's (he'd up graded earlier... but kept them for the spare room). I used them till I picked up my Ohms in the early 90's. I've been moving them place to place unused since... they've been in my inlaw's basement (dry and clean) for the last 7 years.
They other night it hit me! they have are 1x12 + 1x8 and always had good bass response... why not! My Sunn head has sat mostly unused waiting for a cabinet.
They sounds pretty ok for being 40 years old.
I've got 2 sets of feet and 2 straps on the way from a friend and spent a while emailing with Ted Weber
http://www.webervst.com figuring what would work best for my tone, wattage and box size. I'm getting a pair of his Michigan 12 ceramic and a pair of his 8F125. One each per cab joined with a 3.3uF cap.
He says "That will give you a strong low end with a little bit of bite on the high end if you snap, etc."
FYI: I ran a pair of natural birch Bag End Cubes for most of the 90s.
I like _NOT_ following the traditional path when ever possible... That's what brought me to Sunn, I wanted tube but won't even glance at Ampeg or Fender.
Heck, my custom boutique 5 string handmade bass instead of looking like a coffee table is a copy of a slab body 51 P Bass
btw: I just ordered it's twin in Lake Placid Blue w/matching headstock and fretless rosewood board and single music man type pickup covered in ash painted to match the body
