Model T for Bass???
« on: May 26, 2004, 02:24:48 pm »
I'm looking for a new bass amp (useable for guitar also). I played a 1200 (old) that I liked quite a bit, but it sold shortly after I did. I'm finding the 2000s to be a bit pricey. Does anyone use a Model T for bass? If so, how does it sound? Enough power? Is it possible to get a loud clean sound? How does it distort?
THANKS!

I play a 80s BC Rich Mockingbird bass through my 2nd gen Model T (mid switch version), fed into a Sunn 610S (original speakers, just blew out two at last practice) and a Musicman 1X18" (orig. EV, recently reconed).

Plenty of punch, plus the three-way switch provides plenty of tonal control.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't think the Model-T likes effects, other than maybe an overdrive (I've read reviews that say efx really "shine"
--definitly not if you're using it for bass). I now exclusively use a Boss Bass Overdrive, mostly cuz you can blend clean and distortion. Keep the mix low for some high fuzz on top of all that tube power!

I'm liking the current cab configuration too, even though the 610S is actually a guitar cab. Model-T is also great for playing around with cab combinations cuz of the variable impedence.

I play hardcore/sludge (ala Black Flag, Assuck, MITB), and the Model-T hasn't let me down yet! Volume hasn't passed 3 !!!!

Still waiting for my Coliseum Lead to arive in the post. Probably gonna use this one for practice and as a backup.
