Saving your Sunn
« on: October 28, 2004, 09:03:53 am »
Couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to buy a mint '69 Sceptre and cab through this site. It sounded good but not great and eventually began to blow fuses.

When I got it back to the States I sent it to Paul Markwalter of So Flo Tube amps. Paul has a very detailed approach to the overhaul of old amps and went to work on my Sceptre. Bottom line is that now the beast absolutely sings. Everyone who plays it, whether jazzer or rocker, is amazed. Thud, chime, etc., it is all there. Makes you wonder why Sunns did not sell.

Soooo, for all of you who are lucky enough to find an old Sunn, get it to a pro. And contact Paul if you don't have a good local amp tech. The postage is not bad if you remove the amp from its wooden case.
