6550's and KT88's in a Model T
« on: November 23, 2004, 11:07:02 pm »
Which tubes sound better in a Model T? The 6550's or KT88's? Also, my Model T is set up for 6550's. What would I have to do to it to make it use KT88's? Do I have to upgrade other components in the amp as well or will the KT88's go right in with no other things being changed? Just curious. Thanks.

"Sound better" is a judgement call. You'll have to decide for yourself.

As for KT88s, it's my understanding that they can be dropped into any 6550 circuit without modification. The bias might have to be reset.
