beta lead into 4-12 cabinet question
« on: December 16, 2005, 05:26:45 pm »
i have been working on 2 beta lead combos for the last week or so- one of them is for my dad. i built an enclosure(head) to mount my amp chassis into then run into a behringer 4-12 cab-the cab is 8 ohm(jensen mod 70 speakers)
here is my question.
does the beta lead amplifier like to see a 4 ohm load or would the 8 ohm setup be a little more reliable to the amp?
i could wire the 4-12 to 4 ohm but then it's really not compatible with another head that i also use.
at 8 ohms, there is plenty of headroom from the beta.
BTW, the jensen mod 12/70 speaker is a great replacement for anyone running a beta lead. it is much cleaner and still has the nice sunn sound where all notes really ring out clearly. my old sunn speakers are a little worn out, they tend to breakup(fuzzy) during clean playing. anyhow,
should i run 4 or 8 ohm in the 4-12? thanks alot, jmf
