Sunn on VH1, Badfinger...
« on: November 06, 2000, 04:40:00 pm »
Did anybody see the Badfinger Behind The Music (premiered 11/5/00) on VH1?  At the end of the intro portion, they displayed what looked like roadcase, SUNN-logoed, with Badfiner scrawled on the side.  That was pretty cool!

Sunn on VH1, Badfinger...

Because Badfinger's heyday(very early '70s) was pretty much the same as Sunn's, it's quite feasible that at least the bass player used Sunn gear...they toured the states quite a bit. Every photo of them, studio and live, that I've seen has the guitarists usuing Hiwatt's, and the bass using either large cab Fender Showman's or Ampeg SVT's. However, as we all know, plenty of Brit bassists, once they got exposed to Sunn gear, became converts(even though England has produced its fair share of "guitar amps that ruled the world" there really wasn't any truly great Brit bass amps until Trace-Elliot, except for maybe Hiwatt). Just look at the record---Redding, Entwistle, Deacon, Lodge, the guy in the second Jeff Beck group, and so on.  Perhaps as part of this site we should have a "famous users" roll call. I'll do a post concerning that. Were Sunn amps not well distributed in the U.K.?
