I recently had my '68 Solarus worked on for a sudden increase in noise (something in the preamp, not the expected filter caps - those had actually been done by the previous owner). Now, a month later, while playing with the gain at about 8, the noise returned and the amp blew a fuse, accompanied by a solder smell! It now powers up fine, but blows a fuse as soon as there is any signal at the input.
I'd be interested in taking it to a different tech this time - the one I used before is reputed to be one of the best around here, but I'd like a second opinion. Anyone have any suggestions?
