2000S volume pot
« on: June 11, 2006, 04:49:17 pm »
I crushed my volume pot the other night. I need to replace it. The schematic calls for a 500k, and I noticed that in it's place is a dual 1 meg pot. Should I go back to the 500k?

It always seemed to me that the amp got very loud without moving the knob very far ( I never turned the volume past 2).  If I go back to the 500k pot, will the volume be less sensitive?

Yeah, go to a 500K Audio.  Sounds like you had a linear taper pot; that'll make it basically turn off/on around '2'.

All the old Sunns I've opened up have had 500K volumes as per the schematics EXCEPT for the Studio and Coliseum PA amps - the schems show 500K but they had 1Ms.
