Yes, the Sonaro is the mystery amp.

I wish Conrad himself took on this discussion and put it to rest once and for all.

I am going to take mine apart and get some good photos and post them. May be somebody can spot some differences. I don't think they even bothered to document them with schems because in essence, it was the 200S or Sorado.

My oppinion is that in late 69 or 70 the Sonaro went with the standard (2) 6550's line ups and used the same transformers that the Sorado and the 200s had. Then the only real differences were in the names and speaker configurations. JMHO.

That way they could reduce their inventory even more while they were gearing up for the solid state stuff

Well I got it open, and sure enough mine was modified. I was a little bummed.

Everything looks stock except the output transformer. Clearly this was changed out but I think it was the only thing. It still has the 2 prong plug.

Funny, there are no date markings on the inside like a Sorado I had just some initials made with a sharpie. I have no idea how to date this now. Any clues to look for? I'll search this site on more dating subjects but any tidbit would help.

I'm not sure really where the tranformer came from. Do you guys have an opinion on trying to get it back as close to stock as possible? i.e. (2) el34 and a smaller transformer from one of the sources mentioned on this site? Or just leave it alone.

The caps all look pretty good. I'll try and get some good close-up this weekend

 I still think my theory holds on standardizing on parts and inventory
