impedance / ALPHA SLAVE QUESTION
« on: July 29, 2007, 11:28:23 am »
i am considering adding an alpha slave head to my guitar rig, and i notice the rear panel is labeled 4 ohm and has two speaker outputs.  here's my question:

is each speaker output on the back of the slave regulated (is that even possible w/a solid state amp?) to run @ 4 ohms, or if i connect two 4 ohm cabs am i catually running a 4 ohm head @ 2 ohms?

thanks again!

The latter. The speaker output jacks are connected in parallel, so your two 4 ohm cabs are in parallel giving a 2 ohm total load.

thanks Joe

also, if my 100w tube head has a 2 - 4 - 8 ohm selector switch (in the 8 ohm position), and i am running an 8 ohm cab directly off the tube head, and running preamp out into the slave, am i losing any power there?

No.
