Reproduction logos and parts
« on: January 08, 2008, 06:04:49 pm »
O.K now please no-one have a heart attack or anything bad like that (no I don't have a line on repro parts) but after endlessly reading the forum here it seems none of this stuff is being made. Finally, to the point: is there a problem with someone making them? Does Fe***er still own the rights and not willing to license someone to make repros? I have two (yes two) 200s folded horn type cabs that are missing logos (no I.D, plates either) and would love some logos to show off. They have the orig d140F's in both and sound great. I bought them used around 20 years ago for $150.00 and I think the cones are orig. I'll post some pics soon along with my 1980 Rick 4001 L/H and my SVT head and cab. No, I don't want to sell anything. Boy am I going to need a large grave one day to bury this stuff with me! Thanks to this site for my ability to confirm my suspicions that the cabs were in fact Sunn + I now know what model too! Rick + Sunn + Ampeg--my favorite trio!--Abbott

There is someone on Ebay selling the amp logo plates and if you ask me, (I bought one) they are repros. They are very nice and I would buy another if needed.  Kind of like the corners being sold by Vetchking, I think these are being made today and are not old stock. Power transformers, output transformer, chockes, many other parts are available today new.

Being new here, I've done a lot of reading and noticed the availability of the parts you mentioned. I just noticed no mention of logos-the one (two) thing I need. O.K, I starting to catch the Sunn light and will keep my eyes open for a matching amp. After finding this site, I dug out my cabs from the garage (I know-please don't kill me), pulled the grills off and scrubbed them down, scrubbed the tolex, fired them up and viola-I see what people are talking about as far as these cabs. Warm sounding with a different midrange projection than the SVT cab. A different kind of bite from my rick. I'm loving both sounds-gives me more variety of tone and plan on trying out all three cabs together. I think they will compliment each other. All I need is people to help me carry them to gigs. I envy those guitar players that can blow you out of the room with a single 12". Back to the logos-I don't know which one's I need at this point and hopefully someone can tell me once I put up some pics. Did I read that there should be a back plate with a serial number?-not that I expect to purchase them, I just like to know what's missing. One more thing on the logos- it seems mine were originally mounted at the bottom right corner of the grill as I see 4 tiny screw holes there and nowhere else on the grills. Is this where they were mounted? It just seems odd to mount them at the bottom. No, I don't have the grills upside down as the snaps line up only one way. Finally, thanks for the response-I was wondering about the cat getting all the tongues out there.

Yep, a Sunn setup is not what you'd call portable, especially a 215 bottom, course a SVT ain't either.  My 115BH is sort of kinda portable, at least I can carry it with one hand...bent way over backwards to compensate...still a pain going up and down stairs. But ain't nutin' out der dat sounds like um!

Depending on what year the cabinets are depend on whether there was a plate on the back. Early ones just had a speaker jack plate. I have never seen the front logo anywhere but upper left and center on some later guitar cabinets. So flip the board and move the couple of snaps you need to. Here is a link to the current logo listing in Ebay;

They seem to end up going for around $30.00.
