Hello. This is my first post here. It is good to find an active Sunn forum.
Is there any love for the 1200S? I don't find much discussion on them anywhere. I have a very clean 1970 complete with the cab holding 6 original 12" Eminence Alnico's. I am impressed by the sonics...at low volume it creates very warm tones and surprisingly yields a nice gentle break up when pushed. The mid boost is very useful.
This one has a 'Jimi Hendrix' signature on the back panel.. :mrgreen:..but I don't think it is bonafide. AT least, it doesn't match anything I have found on sites showing samples of his autograph.
It was serviced in 1991 in San Diego, I believe, according to a sheet of speaker wiring/impedance info from FEnder dated to that time and addressed to a place there.
How it made its way to this part of Texas and has stayed in such good condition is a mystery to me. Anyway, I though I would share as a way of introduction.

Beauty...
I wonder what the ohms read on the cab?
I thought the 6x12 cab was designed for the solid state amps?

  Hi there,no I believe it was the orig. cab in the 1000 series.The 1000 S was a single 15" and a horn,the 1200 S was 6 x 12"'s and the 1500 S was 2 x 15" 's all with the same 120 watt head.You got a great amp there,good luck Mel.

yeah, i have a sunn 6x12 as well.  and i am afraid to try it with my sec gen model T because of the weird ohmage.  so i use my beta lead through it.

outstanding looking amp....you have your self a gem...that head coupled with that cab has plenty of , take you head off crunch...smiles..

Thanks to all for the replies. I have been out for the weekend.
The Eminence speakers are 8 ohm speakers and I have it wired to yield a 5.7 ohm resistance. IT sounds wonderful....I am not a fan of metal dust covers, but these speaekers work well with the amp.
There is a handwritten note and drawn diagram for the cab that Fender sent to a place in CA in '91. It calls for 16 ohm speakers.
These Emi's are all datecode matched for 1970, so I am assuming that they are original to the amp. Cromag, what speakers do you have in that cab, and what is the impedance of the cab?
Does anyone ever pull one of the GZ34's? The mid boost is a thing of beauty in this amp.
