« on: July 30, 2008, 02:26:12 pm »
Hey, just got my concert lead but nothing happens when i turn up the distortion. Is it faulty or do i need a footswitch to activate the distortion?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Mine has a switch on the face that allows me to turn the D on without a switch. What vintage is yours?

same thing I got, mines '72.  you need a footswitch or just take a RCA connector and short the two wires.(one connector, 2 wires) and plug it into the right (I think) jack of the distortion jacks when looking down from the front of the amp(like lean the amp toward you)  does that make sense?  the verb is always on on the other channel, you short it to turn it off and the other jack with the distortion gives a volume boost/cut.  just short and RCA and start foolin' around.  you'll get it.

thanks for the reply, helps a lot. Just a quick question, how do i short the two wires? Not the most electrical person and dont want to blow anything up. Do i just remove one of the connector ends and plug it in to the other? Thanks again

just take an RCA cable and cut the end off about 2" from the connector.  strip the rubber off, there is some bare wire shielding another rubber covered wire.  twist all the bare wire together, strip the little wire inside and twist that to all the bare wire you twisted.  solder it preferably, marret it, tape it whatever.  the center pin and the outside shield of the RCA connector are now connected(shorted).  plug it into the RCA female connector on the amp.  if it is not the one on the right on the distortion pair looking down from front to back, stick it in the other one.  I find with this amp if you don't have a strong guitar output there is not much distortion.  I use a compressor pedal infront with the level maxed to boost the signal.  gives me a nice distortion.  without it, it's a decent 70's crunch, CCR type stuff on mine.
