an obvious pun at the 1990's movie with Sally Field where she wants to move out of Iran back to the US -not without her daughter.
well I am sally field, Iran is baltimore and I'm moving to europe. oh and my daughter is a sunn beta lead 2x12.
do you have experience with moving overseas and transporting an amp with you?
I want to take my sunn with me!Thank you.

Hi there, you should get a real road case for it.I'd recommend a 1/2" case,(one that uses 1/2" ply under the laminate),it won't be able to go reg. baggage, depending on weight, but it will get there in one piece !! Good luck,Mel.

In addition to the voltage, could the 50Hz issue may be a problem as well. I know some amps are made with switchable volyages, but are there other parts that may be effected, especially in a Beta?

I wouldn't expect the frequency to be an issue. AC is converted to DC in the power supply. When I was in Europe, the only thing I had probelms with had motors: turntable, reel-to-reel tape deck. Everything else worked fine at 50Hz.

Thanks Isaac, I thought so but was not sure, especially with the preamp IC's Sunn used in these amps.

Hi,
I live in europe and use two old Sorados and a 350B. I was not quite shure if the transformers could handle the 50Hz, so I called tubeampdoc in worms (better knowen as TAD). They do a lot of modifications, they did the updates for the 2000S from Colourhaze etc,. They told me the transformres will have no problem as they are quite big enough to handle this.
Well, I do have a problem with overheating
on one Sorado
, but the seller told me, that the caps are old, so I think this should be the problem.
The cheapest 230/115V converter can be found at
http://www2.westfalia.de/shops//technica/bauteile/transformatoren/vorschalttrafo/72798-vorschalttrafo_eingang_220_240vac50hz_ausgang_110_120vac_60hz_500w.htm
for a german plug!
Greetings
Oliver

Europe's gain is our loss...sheesh. Best of luck in your new home even if you are expatriating a fine American product.
