how loud should a 100s get?

I know this isn't a question that can be answered objectively, but I'm wondering if my 1969 100s is getting as loud as it should. I run this through a 4 X 12  and crank the volume up to 9-10. While this is definitely loud it doesn't strike me as the paint-peeling volume these amps are known for. Could there be some sort of problem or am I just losing my hearing?

  Hi there,if you know your way around a tube amp,(electronically speaking),check all your power supply voltages,look at your filter caps,if they're orig.'s,replace them.Put a new set of tubes in,replace all of them,not just the outputs.Hope this is of some help,good luck,Mel.

What is the impedence of your 4 x 12 cabinet and how efficient are the speakers?  Sunn amps, especially those from the 60's, had that paint peeling volume, in part, because of the use of JBL components...which were very efficient.  The 60's 100S came with a JBL D-130F and a JBL LE100s Horn Driver combination.  I  believe that the SPL rating for a D-130F was somewhere around 102db.  If your present speaker are...say only 95 -97 db, they are not going to be as loud as a speaker with a higher SPL rating.  Pluse that LE100s driver/horn was a killer!!!!

OK, I have asked in another thread if anyone owns or has pictures of a 100S cabinet.  Mine has the horn removed and another 15 put in.  It is a 200S cab without the upper horn angled board, were they all 200S cabs?? Doesn't anyone own a 100S cab??
