ROAD amplifiers?
« on: December 11, 2008, 02:20:31 pm »
Well I'ts not a Sunn but does anyone here know anything about these amps? I can get this one locally for $100 & it works just fine. I don't think it has the original speakers though. I just couldn't find much online about 'em. Just wondering if anyone has anything to say about them, good or bad.

Thanks,
Chris

  Hi there,I had a few Road amps,still have one of their 1 x 18" front loaded cabs.For awhile,back in the mid 70's to early 80's I used a Road 440 bass amp and 3 of their 1 x 18 cabs.The amp put out 375 wrms @ 2 ohms,channel switching and 7 band eq.,if I remember right.Also had a Road 1 x 15" bass combo,sort of styled like a Twin.
They were made by Bud Ross of Kustom Amps,in Kansas I believe, later bought out by Griffin Music.I never saw one like that, but for a $100 you can't go wrong.Mine all had a protective spkr.grill on them and they came stock with EV spkrs.(didn't have the stickers on the mags.)Looks like those might have been changed. It's all solid state, but for bass they were great, guitar I don't know but Davey Johnson, guit. for Elton John used them.Good luck,Mel.
