Sunn Sonaro Head....8 Ohm? 4 Ohm?
« on: January 11, 2009, 08:25:56 pm »
Hi Everyone,
I've had a (neglected, but not abused)Sonaro head for a few years now, but haven't really ever got a cabinet specifically for it.  Luckily, I rediscovered how good this thing can sound when I plugged in my Hartke 115XL cab (8 ohm).

Question(s):  The back of the Sonaro has speaker outputs labled "8 Ohm speaker" and "4 Ohm external speaker", can both be used at the same time?

What if I want to use only one cab, should I only plug a 8 Ohm speaker cab into the 8 Ohm output or only 4 Ohm speaker cab into the 4 Ohm external speaker output?

I would think that mixing an 8 and 4 Ohm cab would make something like a 6 Ohm load, is this safe?

I have only seen the label "external speaker" outputs on combo's before and I'm a little confused of what is safe to use, and what would sound the best. I have a 4 Ohm 2X15 cab i would like to try, which output should i plug it into?

Thanks.

Yep, thanks.
I plugged in the 4 Ohm 2X15 cab and tried both jacks. Sounds good either way.  BTW, it sounds a little scratchy/buzzy/farty at first. About 10 minutes later it goes away, you think maybe a tube problem?
