Ribbon mics are great! I wish I owned one. Beware though, they're (most of them anyways) aren't used for close miking. I think it would sound awesome as an ambient mic to capture the full sound - in stereo!!
That's what tought, it would make a nice mic for room or maybe a feet and up from the speaker.
For now the overhead mics on drum gives a good room take to my all rig...
You actually need room mics to capture the growl imo.
+1, the room is f**** impotant, I keep working on it for nearly one year. It's getting better but it takes time!
