Sunn Concert Bass/ Slave & Two Cab's, How do I??
« on: March 05, 2009, 06:53:31 pm »
So... I have a '73 ish Concert Bass Head (4 ohm) that I run through an '80 ish Carvin 2x15. I'm in the market for an easier to move and louder set-up. I picked up a Concert Slave of the same era a year ago and it needs some work, which I will get done. I'm trying to figure out the correct way to hook these puppies up to two cabinets and what impedence to look for in cabinets. I will probably get a avatar 1x12 or some 1x15 and a 2x10. My understanding is I should get two 8ohm cabs to not overload the amp. But I have no experience using Slave amps and don't know if you just run out of the Sunn Concert into the Slave and run both outputs to each cabinet... or out of the sunn concert into cab (a) and out of the slave into cab (b). And should it go out of a speaker out or out of the preamp out on the concert bass to the slave? Any advice is appreciated.

I think some clarification is needed here. You state you want your setup to be easier to move...but you are adding an amp and another speaker. Something don't make sense.

Instrument into Concert Bass. One speaker from Concert Bass. Preamp out on Concert Bass to slave. One speaker from slave. Match speaker ohms to amp outputs. 8 ohms on each should be fine.
