Wondering how to tell the speaker impedance on a Sunn Solos (Not the Solos II)...its 120 watts and has 2x12...I'd like to use just the speakers/cab with a different amp...

Thanks,

Generally, the DC resistance of a speaker is about 3/4 of it's impedance. If they are 8 ohm speakers, they measure about 6 ohms with a Digital Volt Meter.

Thanks...real newb here, but what is the easiest way to tell whether the speakers are wired in parallel or series (visually) ?   I have a solid state 15 watt amp(small Pathfinder practice amp) with an ext. out jack and I'd hate to screw something up...The manual says only use 8 ohm or more..The amp sounds decent with its 8" stock speaker, but I'd like to see if the sound/tone improves with 2x12...it won't be as loud, but that's not a concern...

Thanks again.

If the drivers are in series, then there will be one wire going from one to the other, kind of like this: +-()-()--
If they're in parallel, there should be two wires connecting them. But why do you care? The total impedance is all that matters, if you want to  put the two 12"s on the Pathfinder.

When you say it won't be as loud, what do you mean? Not as loud as the Solos through the two 12"s, or not as loud as the Pathfinder through the 8"?

If you try this, make sure that the Solos amp is not connected to the speakers when you're powering them with the Pathfinder.
